A “third hand” to operate the oscilloscopes
When an engineer is using a Tektronix oscilloscope, they often have both hands busy probing a circuit board. Sometimes they need a “third hand”. The goal of this project is to design and build the footswitch and integrate it with a Tektronix performance oscilloscope. The footswitch will have 2 or 3 possible buttons to control different programmable Oscilloscope functions. A microcontroller will monitor the input pushpins and send that data through a USB interface to the connected computer. Software for the computer will be written to recognize that a button has been pushed on the foot pedal, which will trigger a user configurable action to the oscilloscope.
